Was Bad Teacher a bad movie? I would say it was more a disappointing movie. Cameron Diaz was great as the bad teacher. Not only was she a bad teacher she was just a bad person. Her counterpoint and nemesis in this movie was character actress Lucy Punch. Jason Segal as the gym teacher who wanted to date the bad teacher and John Higgins who played the principle had great characters that had a huge potential for comedy.
Unfortunately, As we've seen in many movies this year, the writing was pitiful. They had all this talent but didn't know what to do with it. They flipped back and forth between making this an adult comedy (which worked) and a sophomoric teen comedy. Of course, teens can't see this movie so that part was a waste of time. Even when it was in "adult comedy" mode, there was long gaps between funny scenes. Whenever you hit a funny scene you can tell the potential of this movie. So sad that they wasted the talent and the premise to getting a hack to write the script. This movie could have been this year's Hangover but instead it will be one of many bad movies thrown out to the public.
